PROS
1) I’m a Google fiend - docs, calendar, gmail - so it’s nice to have this as part of the package.
2) The Circles are GREAT. I love the idea that I’ll be able to talk socially about super-specific things (fave TV show, football, kids stuff) with small groups of friends and not bother everyone else.
3) The privacy settings seem better than Facebook’s. I feel safer. I just don’t like Facebook.
4) It’s a new start. I’m restricting contact to people I’ve socialized with recently, or plan to in the near future. Business contacts are for LinkedIn. Old friends are for email. Twitter, for me, is best for breaking news and browsing content. This just feels better for jawing with proper mates.
5) That’s it.
CONS
It’s another social network, another piece of me that’s making a massive corporation a lot of money, another opportunity to waste time, to get pissed off at some point in the future and quit. Also, it might whither and die.
